Developing meaning and connection are at the heart of my therapy practice. I am a lifelong creative who thrives on problem solving and a good weekend project. Engaging in hobbies outside the office brings me purpose, awe, and clarity and that's how I'm able to show up and be fully present with you.
In recent years, I started a dahlia garden and have added more and more varieties every year. It's a slow and gratifying process watching them grow, and I wait all year for the joyful, colorful blooms in Summer and Fall. I hope to hear what activities and relationships in your life make you feel fulfilled - or if this is something to develop - even in challenging times.
I did my undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and completed my graduate degree in Human Development Counseling, Clinical Mental Health at Vanderbilt University in 2015. I've been practicing therapy for over 10 years in both community mental health and private practice, and truly feel it is a calling.
You'll bring the content you want to work on. These are some common ways I might help you reflect:
Sorting out what feels important to work on if you're not sure yet.
Asking clarifying questions to help you gain insight about how you're feeling or how you'd like to move forward
Sitting with you as you allow yourself to feel
Challenging assumptions, particularly self limiting ones
Exploring a range of options for handling issues
Identifying choices that align with your goals and values
Identifying negative beliefs you carry about yourself or the world and working on strengthening neutral or helpful beliefs
Noticing that paralyzing stuck feeling, gently approaching the avoidance, and finding a managable first step
Tracking progress, celebrating gains, and problem-solving barriers to change
I use an integrative approach with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for processing traumatic memories and deeply rooted negative beliefs.
If you think we might be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you.
